New twist in Crop loans waiver issue

New twist in Crop loans waiver issue

Opposition parties allege that TDP leaders have encouraged the people to avail bank loans, promising all their loans will be waived off, if TDP wins the elections and comes to power in the state. As if asserting their allegations Agricultural Minister Prattipati Pulla Rao said “We have received several complaints that many people have taken crop and gold loans on bogus names hoping they will be waived off, when our party comes into power. Several fake co-operative societies have taken loans from banks. It came to our notice that in Kadapa district alone loans upto Rs.60 were taken just before the elections. We will identify the genuine farmers and societies and clear their dues only. Banks also will ensure that only genuine farmers and societies get fresh loans.”

Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu says that government will waive off the loans only upto 2013, December 31st only. Actually, TDP has assured to waive off all the loans taken upto March 2014. State government is forced to have a relook on this issue and trim the period to December, because of the same reasons said by Agricultural Minister. However, both their statements are offering new weapons to the opposition parties.
