Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet his council of ministers to review and assess their performance till now. The Ministers in charge of various portfolios are expected to make presentations on work done in their departments in the last two years. The Prime Minister will be conducting this detailed performance assessment ahead of a likely cabinet reshuffle that could see changes in key ministries.According to reports the finance ministry has asked the ministries to prepare a slide show about the money allotted to them and spent and this will be presented to the Prime Minister, who will asses each ministry separately along with his set of officers.
It is being speculated that the Law Minister Sadananda Gowda, whose performance has reportedly been seen as disappointing, may get a strong minister of state and the Ministers of State Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan may be promoted to cabinet rank as Goyal's shift to a more high profile ministry has been speculated upon for months. Uttar Pradesh, which goes to polls early next year, is likely to get more representation in the Union cabinet.
