The Deputy Speaker in the state Assembly, Mr Nadendla Manohar is likely to dismiss petition of the Telugu Desam Party to disqualify Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy from his membership. Mr Srinivas met the Deputy Speaker on Monday and submitted his reply to a notice issued to him, based on a petition filed by the TD to disqualify him.
Mr. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy clarified that he made up his mind much before the MLC elections held last month and announced his intention to quit from both the party and the Assembly. He felt that it was not proper for the TD to seek his disqualification from the House when he had announced his decision to quit. He requested the Deputy Speaker to ignore the claim of the TD and accept his resignation that was submitted on March 25. Sources said that the Deputy Speaker will formally dismiss the TD plea seeking disqualification and announce acceptance of Mr Srinivas's resignation.
