Machilipatnam Police arrested YSR Congress party leader Perni Nani on Monday for obstructing ‘Mee Bhoomi-Mee Intiki’ official program launched by the AP government. Police files separate charges against him for provoking the people of Machilipatnam against the government in its efforts for land acquisition from farmers for constructing Machilipatnam Port. Perni Nani strongly objected filing false cases on him merely for questioning the government.

 

Yesterday, YSR Congress party Gudiwada MLA Kodali Nani was also arrested following a complaint from a house owner in Gudiwada. Kodali Nani, who was running party office in a rented building in Gudiwada, was not paying rent since last few months. Hence, she took police help to vacate YSR Congress party office from her building. Police arrested Kodali Nani, when he and his followers tried to obstruct them.

 

He alleges that TDP government is trying to suppress the voice of people by arresting opposition party leaders. He said the government sent Perni Nani for fighting on behalf of farmers, who are strongly opposing land acquisition for the construction of Machilipatnam Port. He said YSR Congress party won’t afraid of arrests. It will continue its fights on behalf of the people as long as the government adopting anti-people-policies.
