Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, who seeks the confidence of the house after he shrugged off the 11 BJP ministers from his cabinet in wake of differences with BJP, has effortlessly won the confidence vote today with 126 members of the house including 4 Congress MLAs cast their votes in his favour. Out of the 243 members of the house Nitish Kumar’s own party JD (U) has 117 members and ity was backed by 4 Congress, 4 independent MLAs, thus giving him more than enough support to keep afloat.
However, Laloo Prasad Yadav led RJD (22) and two independent MLAs have voted against Nitish government. BJP (91) and a lone MLA of LJP have staged a walk out from the house during the voting time. Nitish Kumar thanked the independent and Congress MLAs for supporting his government.
The support of 4 Congress MLAs is expected to blossom a new friendship between Congress and JD(U) parties at national level after 2014 general elections, with which Congress plans to come back to power.
