Minister Shankar Rao Holds Office on Floor

Minister Shankar Rao is back in news: After eggs and tomatoes episode, minister for handlooms and textiles Dr P Shankar Rao is back in the news for a unique reason this time.
On Friday (23-12-11), Shankar Rao squatted on the floor in his chambers and held the review meeting with his officials in protest against the government's indifferent attitude in providing adequate furniture to his chamber. Even the officials, too, had to sit on the carpet laid on the floor to participate in the review meeting.
The minister, who recently shifted to a new chamber, had written to the General Administration Department to provide him new furniture as the existing furniture has become old and is not adequate. However, there has been no response from the officials to his letter, obviously under the instructions from the top boss. So, the doctor saab has chosen "squatting" as the new form of protest!
Shankar Rao was allotted offices in 'H' Block of the secretariate recently along with ministers Basavaraju Saraiah and D L Ravindra Reddy. While the other ministers were provided with furniture, Shankar Rao didn't get any so far in spite writing to the chief secretary and GAD department. The minister alleges that the chief minister is adopting a partisan attitude towards him.
