Lok Pal Bill: Sonia Ready to Fight it Out

Addressing the party MPs in a meeting at New Delhi, Congress president and UPA chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi said that the Lokpal Bill is "path-breaking" and that "Team Anna must accept it." She said "People are trying to spread the rumour that there are differences between the government and Party. There may be difference of opinions but things are done together."

The contentious lok pal bill, intended to curb corruption in the country, will be introduced in Parliament tomorrow. Lok Pal Bill draft has been cleared by the Cabinet last night. Anna Hazare, who is spearheading the crusade against corruption, has rejected the bill because CBI isn't being brought under Lok Pal control. Dissatisfied Anna has announced a three-day fast in Mumbai on December 27, followed by a jail-bharo agitation.

Taking firm stand in support of the government proposed Lok Pal Bill draft, Sonia Gandhi had said "We have delievered on Lokpal. No one can stop us, we have the confidence of the people. The Opposition is trying to disrupt proceedings of the House. We are ready for Lokpal fight."
