The disclosure of contents of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee’s secret report on the Telangana issue has made the Seemandhra leaders bolder and aggressive in their approach.
They are now claiming that the observations made by the committee in the eighth chapter are completely true, as the committee had done a thorough study of the ground situation in Telangana after talking to all sections of people and collecting the relevant data.
“There is no other option before the Centre to accept the Srikrishna Committee recommendations in total. It is the responsibility of the Centre to see that all political parties and individuals abide by the Srikrishna Committee recommendations,” Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said in his letter to AICC in charge of AP affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad.
He said there would be no loss to the Congress, if the Telangana statehood was not granted. “It continues to be a stronger party in the Telangana region, as the people have a lot of confidence in the party,” Lagadapati said in his letter.
Lagadapati, however, said YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's exit from Congress has been a major loss for the party. This will get reflected in the elections to come in the Seemandhra region. The by-elections in Kadapa district will bear testimony to this, he said.
