One would expect that the leader of opposition party in AP state Assembly-YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is fully aware of the state financial situation post bifurcation. However, he is questioning the state government why it is linking pensioners with Aadhar cards, instead of paying all the 44.11 lakhs pensioners in the state without any conditions.
He blames the government for allotting just Rs.1338 crores in the budget, whereas it should be Rs.3,730 crores. He suspects state government’s honesty in paying the pensions. He appeals pensioners scrutinizing committee members not to succumb to state government’s pressures and let all the eligible get their pensions. He promised to fight on behalf of pensioners if necessary.
Earlier, he has tried to grab the crop loans waiver issue to agitate against state government, but he seems dropped that idea after knowing state government is gearing to clear the crop loans from next month onwards in phases. So, he picks this issue to criticize the state government now, despite knowing about the poor financial situation of it. It is evident that linking pensioners with Aadhar cards is to trim the numbers, but it is essential to sort out the fake claimants.
