The four-Test series, which starts at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on July 21 will see India take on West Indies. India have played a total of 45 Tests against the West Indies in the Caribbean, but they have never been able to win two Tests in a row, or for that matter, even two in a series. More than 63 years after they made the first tour to the Caribbean, where they played five Tests and lost the series 0-1, India are in prime position to now bury that record and set a new one.
At the press conference India skipper Virat Kohli has declared that his side will look to play "attacking cricket" to set the tone for the Test series, he said, "I am always in the favour of playing five bowlers because if we play more batsmen, you can score 700 runs in a Test but that doesn't help in any way. You need to take 20 wickets to win a Test match. So our top five batsmen plus the wicketkeeper will have to take responsibility and raise a big score so that we can bowl them out twice". He added, "Even if we do need put on a big score, we need to get enough runs so that we don't need to bat for long the second time.
This has been our mindset for the last two seasons and we want to start the series with that same mindset that our bowling should be strong enough to take 20 wickets". For Virat Kohli though it will be a special occasion to return to the Caribbean where he made his Test debut six years back.
