Guru Purnima: Puttaparthi Sathya Saibaba Samadhi Unveiled

The fullmoon day in the month of ashadam is considered very auspicious and Gurus are worshipped with sincerity. Puttaparthi Sri Sathya Saibaba used to give darshan on this day, take part in bhajans and deliver a discourse. This one is being the first Guru Purnima after his demise, the Sathya Sai 'Mahasamadhi' built in Sai Kulwant Hall in Prashanthi Nilayam has been unveiled for public darshan.

The mahasamadhi is a rectangular, white marble edifice - 9 ft long, 6 ft wide and 2 ft 2 inches high. It has been constructed just above where Sai Baba was laid to rest after his demise on April 24. Baba's devotees have gathered in Puttaparthi in large numbers for darshan of the mahasamadhi.

Sri Satya Sai Central Trust has tried to keep the event on a low scale. According to the programme listed, the samadhi will be unveiled at 8am. It is will be followed by lectures by Indian and foreign speakers and then public darshan.
