The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday shifted former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy to Bangalore from Chanchalguda jail for further interrogation. Gali has been lodged in Chanchalguda jail since September 2011, in connection with the large scale irregularities in his Obulapuram Mining Company.
Gali Janardhan Reddy also owns another mining company, Associated Mining Company in Karnataka, which is also under CBI scan for irregularities. As per the Supreme Court guidelines, Gali's presence was necessary for probe into this company. Gali requested the CBI authorities to shift him to Bangalore by flight, as he has threat to his life.
Gali Janardhan Reddy was taken in a special bus followed by an escort vehicle towards Bangalore highway from Chanchalguda jail. It is not known whether he will be shifted to a flight from Shamshabad airport or will be taken to Bangalore in the same bus. It was also not known yet whether Gali will be brought back to Hyderabad or will be kept in Bangalore till the AMC investigation is completed.
