Man famous for wearing pure gold shirt brutally killed

Dattatray Phuge a 44-year-old man from Pune who became very famous for making the most expensive fashion statement by wearing a gold shirt is no more. His wife Seema said that on Thursday late night he was kidnapped from his house by four to five unidentified men who entered his house at around 9:30 pm and forcefully took him away with them to a place in Dighi and attacked him with stones and sharp weapons and brutally attacked with stones. Dattatray had become popular after he was spotted wearing a shirt made up of 22-carat pure gold which was worth a whopping Rs 1.27crore.
He was a former Corporator from the Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra. He used to wear gold ornaments weighing 7 kg in his daily life. His gold shirt was made of 14,000 gold spangles interwoven with 1 lakh rings on a specially imported white velvet cloth. The police have recovered the weapons used at the crime scene. It is being reported that he used to run a chit fund business and that he recently had some heated argument with a few people as well.
