During the first day of two-day Mahanadu meetings held at Gandipet yesterday, Chandrababu has asserted that his party has not changed its stand on Telangana issue and reiterates that they are still stick to their consent letter given to Center on October 2008.
He categorically said “In deference to the sentiments of people of the region, Telugu Desam supports the demand for separate statehood to Telangana. TDP had said this in a resolution adopted by its politburo in October 2008. We again have asserted the same in the all party meeting held in December last year. Yet some people are trying to sling mud on us by repeatedly demanding us to declare our stand on Telangana. We have made ourselves very clear on this burning issue. It is Center that needs to react on this issue and not us. The UPA government is sitting pretty on it.”
Chandrababu regrets for having poll alliance with TRS during 2009 elections with which his party fails to return to power. “We were obliged to offer 45 seats to TRS, but it could hardly win 10 seats only. If, we would have kept those 45 seats for ourselves, definitely we would have won them. That’s why, we have decided not to go for any poll alliance with any party in the forthcoming elections.”
Mahanadu meeting paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Telangana fight. Chandrababu has announced that if his party is elected to power, he will provide employment to kin of the martyrs’ family members.
