The CBI took possession of some key official documents pertaining to allotment of land, granting of licences and permits for mines and industries, etc., from the Secretariat as part of their investigation into the assets of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy following the directive of the AP High Court to conduct a preliminary inquiry.
The CBI sleuths perused several files relating to Bharati Cements, Brahmani Steels and SEZs and took copies, said sources. "We are examining the files to ascertain whether these allotments were made in accordance with law or not and also whether they were made as a quid pro quo for investments they made in Jagan companies," a CBI officer said. Whether these official favours and allotments preceded or followed the investment is another question the CBI is looking into.
