Patna: By accepting the rank of station house officer, over 200 officers refused to take charge of the police stations in Bihar, according to Bihar Police Association’s sources.
The law-makers of Bihar approved changes that the entire family should be punished if an adult is found drinking and the policemen should pay penalties if they are found lax in enforcing the prohibition.
After the discovery of the equipment used to produce liquor in the areas, the cops who were in charge were suspended last week for ten years.
Secretary of the Bihar Police association, Mritoynjay Kumar Singh alleged that instead of being rewarded for performing a good job, the police men were punished on filmsy grounds.
Before the government suspension, the organization wants the seniors to investigate the cops who were accused of dereliction. Police officers also say “the new prohibition laws risk our careers by skewing all the power towards excise department officials”.
