School kids served food containing insecticide

The forensic report reveals that the 23 school kids in Bihar were died due to extremely dangerous insecticide content (Monocrotophos) in the oil used for preparing their food. Additional Director General of Police Ravinder Kumar said, the food samples collected from the midday meals from the school contains poisonous substance. He said that his men are investigating the case to find out how, who and why the food was poisoned. He said his teams are also trying to trace out whether the oil was contaminated by the manufacturing oil company.
The post-mortem of the children has confirmed the presence of a poisonous substance in the potato-soyabean curry that was served to them in the midday meal.
Dr. Chandrasekhar Singh, who treated the kids has said “55 our of 65 fell ill with the food poisoning. Those 23 ill fated kids, who ate the curry made with the oil died and other ten students have narrowly escaped death. The other students, who just eat rice and pulses are safe, but disturbed and shocked with the incident. They have been given necessary treatment and discharged.
“The principal of the school Meena Devi is still absconding. The cook has complained about the pungent smell of the oil, but she was forced to use it by the principal. Hence, the government has decided to attach their property to oblige her return and surrender to police,” said Saran Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar said.
