Vishwa Hindu Parishad'sformer International working president Ashok Singhal (89) passed away on Tuesday. He was rushed to Medanta super specialty hospital in Gurgaon near Delhi on yesterday night after his health condition start deteriorating rapidly. He died around 2.30 pm on Tuesday in the same hospital.

 

Ashok Singhal was born in Agra September 15, 1926. He was attracted toward RSS during his college days and dedicates his full time to it after completing his Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University of Technology in 1950. Later, in 1980s he was deputed to the VHP as general secretary. He became working president of the VHP in 1984. He served as international working president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad for over 20 years. Ashok Singhal has good command in Hindustani music as he was trained under Pandit Omkarnath Thakur.
