The PIL bench of the High Court passed its order on the petitions against YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and EMAAR Properties today. The bench comprising of chief justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru and justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar, which is hearing the case, declared that a prima facie existed for ordering a full-scale probe into the alleged amassing of wealth by Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Court also ordered for full-scale probe by CBI into the alleged discrepancies in the EMAAR Properties case.
The court heard the arguments for four days last week on the writ petitions filed by minister P Shankar Rao and two others who sought a CBI probe into the alleged disproportionate wealth of Jagan and posted the case for hearing on August 10 (today). The court felt that there is sufficient evidence to initiate full-scale inquiry by the CBI and ordered the agency to start investigation in to the cases. The court also declared that the state government and APIIC have totally failed in protecting lands causing large scale loss to the exchequer in the EMAAR properties case. In Jagan's case, the court ordered the CBI to investigate all the investments made by various companies in Jagan's businesses under money laundering and other related Acts.
