Rs 32 Cr Cash Seized Ahead of AP By Polls 2012

The Election Commission officials in AP have seized a record Rs 32 crore in cash just days ahead of the Andhra Pradesh bypolls. In a state notorious for distribution of money, valuables and liquor during elections, the officials also recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 9 crore. Thus the value of total seizure is Rs 41 crore.
In addition, the officials have so far seized 1.74 lakh litres of liquor meant for distribution among voters.
The amount is even higher than the cash seized during the election campaigns in the 2009 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.Andhra Pradesh is set to go for bypolls on June 12.
