Addition to the Interim Budget

Here is a list of some more key points that we had missed out. The following set gives us a brief of what our Finance Minister said during the session at parliament today :
1. Finance minister proposed an increased budget support to the railways from Rs 26,000 crore to Rs 29,000 crore in the interim budget for 2014-2015
2. As a part of the modernization drive, the defence ministry was allotted 2,24,000 crore in the interim general budget, which is 10% more than the previous time.
3. Rs.1000 Crore was allotted for the Nirbhaya fund for the safety and empowerment of women.
4. Chidambaram seeked a positive nod from the parliament for supplementary spending of Rs 46,227.57 crore in 2013-14.
Tamil Nadu DMK party Supremo M Karunanidhi mentioned that the interim budget that was presented today had some welcoming features like the controlling of inflation at 5%, seven new airports, solar power projects and reduction in taxes on mobile phones. However, he further added that the budget lacked lot of sops in an election year.
Bahujan Samaj Party chairperson Mayawati mentioned that there was nothing new in the interim budget that was tabled at the parliament today. She also rubbished the last interim budget submitted by the UPA government.
