P. Ramkumar, the accused in the murder of Infosys engineer S. Swathi revealed that he had fallen in love with her at first sight in September 2015 when he moved into the city. Ramkumar's agenda in relocating to the city was primarily for tuition to clear his B.E arrears subjects and his love for the silver screen as he wanted to act in movies. Sources said Ramkumar left the city in the December and came back in April. The revelation came during custodial interrogation ordered by a metropolitan magistrate court. He was sent to the Puzhal prison on Friday evening after three days of police custody, police sources said he had confessed to proposing to Swathi, but she had rebuffed him. According to reports, "Ramkumar would be waiting for Swathi to pass his mansion. He would be there waiting to have a glimpse of her every day.
He had also taken her pictures on his mobile from a distance. During last year's stint in the city, Ramkumar was also engaged in looking out for opportunities in Kollywood and he had kept his love for Swathi to himself. He came back with the sole agenda this time of befriending Swathi, in which he failed miserably". The police claim to have provided Ramkumar with new clothes. “It was very challenging to interrogate him. Though he cooperated well, he was very withdrawn”. He will be in Puzhal till July 18 and after this, his custody will be extended.
