The Enforcement Directorate is reportedly preparing to attach the properties of the once powerful mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardana Reddy in the next two weeks.
According to sources, ED authorities have taken into account the CBI figures of a mind boggling Rs. 840 crore, allegedly earned by Gali Janardana Reddy, who is presently lodged in the Bangaluru Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara on the city outskirts, through illegal mining. The ED suspects that this money was ploughed into 15 companies including the Obulapuram Mining Company by Janardana Reddy, illegally. Reddy, his brother Srinivasa Reddy and his wife Gali Lakshmi Reddy are directors in these companies.
The Enforcement Directorate has already interrogated Srinivasa Reddy and a few MLAs close to the former mining baron in the case. Sleuths of the agency are likely to question Janardana Reddy also in the next few days. Reports suggest that the process of attachment of Janardana Reddy’s properties would start within the next 15 days.
