The protests against the rape incident on the 23 year old para medical student are turning serious day by day. Several protestors, along with police too, are injuring in the incidents at various parts of Delhi. While the police, to contain the protests, had to lathicharge more than once in the series of protests.
The media has pointed out some mistakes on the part of the government in dealing with the protests. The government should have sent one leader, who is acceptable to the protestors and credible one, to engage in some form of discussion with the protestors to India Gate. Officials have also miscalculated the quantum of anger of the youth over the rape incident, that too on the one which had taken place in the capital of the country. An uniform and cohesive action from the government was lacked while handling the young protestors.
While the massive protests were going on, the home ministry should not have praised the Delhi police publicly. Ordering the police action on the women and youth has led to more serious protests. These clear lapses are appearing on the part of the government which are responsible for the protests to take serious shape with the day.
