Special Status to AP definite: Nirmala Sitaraman

Three months after NDA alliance takes charge of the government, still it couldn’t accord special status to Andhra Pradesh as promised in the AP Reorganization Bill-2014. A special committee has been formed in the Planning Commission especially for this purpose, but it seems to be scrapped along with Planning Commission, as Modi government wants to replace it with some effective panel of experts. So, it can be understood that entire process done by the special committee was also scrapped and it has to be begin from scratch once again.

However, Union Minister for commerce Nirmala Sitaraman assures that it is only a matter of time to get special status to AP. Not only that, but she also said that her government is committed to develop industrial corridor between Vizag and Chennai, grant industrial subsidies to AP and Telangana states etc. that were mentioned in the AP Reorganization Bill-2014.

She said that several committees set-up by the Centre for these various purposes may submit their reports anytime. Once they were tabled, Centre will start implementing the promises,’ assures Minister Nirmala Sitaraman. Let us hope she is honest with her assurance.
