Sheila Dixit, 78, the former Chief Minister of Delhi once said, "I am a bahu of Uttar Pradesh and there's no retirement age in politics". The politician seems to be getting back to active politics with Congress announcing her name as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh. "What you have speculated for so long is true this time. Sheila Dikshit is the CM face for UP," senior leader Janardhan Dwivedi said at a press conference.
The party a couple of days ago appointed actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar as the party president in Uttar Pradesh, replacing Nirmal Khatri. This will be a comeback for Dikshit who has been keeping a low profile after she was ousted as chief minister of Delhi in 2014. Just recently she had said she was ready to play 'any role' either in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh or Punjab and that time was running out for the party to finalise its strategy for the elections in the two crucial states.
