Govt. alleges anti social elements hands in protests
Updated : Dec 24, 2012
Home minister Shinde speaking to media at New Delhi has said “We have been patiently responding to all the demands raised by the students who are protesting against the gang rape case. However, they are continuing their agitations as if they were not heard by us. We don’t have any objection to their protests as long as they continue them peacefully. But, when it takes violent shape like yesterday, in which several police officials and students were injured, government won’t sit quite folding its hands. We suspect some anti social elements involvement in the agitations, with which the peaceful protests all of a sudden takes violent shape. We can’t keep watching while the anti social elements try to enter Rashtrapathi Bhavan in the name of protests. Those who indulged in anti social activities will be dealt with firm hand.
Protesters have given ‘Damini’ name to the victim, which is a symbolic name for fight for justice. (Damini was a yesteryear Hindi film title, in which heroine Meenakshi Sheshadri fights for justice for a rape victim of her own family member.) Despite government assurances and victim’s father’s appeal to stop the protests, Delhi youth determined to continue their protesters till they get justice.
