HC stays land acquisition bid of Singareni

HYDERABAD: To allow Collieries of Singareni to organize its open cast mine in Kasipet village at Adilabad district in an area of 175 acres, the land acquisition process that has been instigated by the government was stayed on Monday by Hyderabad High Court’s Justice Suresh Kumar.After hearing to Atchuta Rao and four other farmers who had dared the acquisition an interim order was passed by the Judge.B Rachna Reddy, the counsel of the farmers in reference with the acquisition process said, “The acquisition is in violation of the constitution’s fifth schedule, and flouted the provisions of the acts that prevent transfer of ownership of land in Scheduled areas”, adding, “Approval from gram sabha is not obtained, tribal advisory council is not consulted and the people are not adequately briefed about the impact on environment of open cast mining”.
