22yr old hacks Modi's App
Updated : Dec 3, 2016
Just days after the official Twitter accounts of Rahul Gandhi and his Congress party were hacked, a 22-year-old from Mumbai claims to have hacked into Prime Minister Narendra Modi's App. Narendra Modi has his own app which is separate from the official app which can be downloaded for iPhones, Android devices and Windows phones. Late on Thursday night, Javed Khatri, who says he is a mobile app developer, reached out to a website, claiming he had hacked into the PM's app and could access the private data of users, including email ids and even mobile numbers of union ministers. It took only 15-20 minutes to hack the app, the young tech wiz told the site. Javed Khatri says his intention was not to cause trouble but to flag a potentially enormous security loophole. Javed shared a couple of screenshots in which he gives proof of the hack being legitimate. The grabs have personal data of Dr Jitendra Singh who is the Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, which he accessed via the Narendra Modi app.
