Samsung Manufacturing unit in AP?

 

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is trying to woo two mobile companies simultaneously. Soon after Samsung Company of South Korea has announced its intention to set up its 3rd manufacturing unit in India, he is trying to attract the company to the AP state. However, he is facing stiff competition from Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Few more states may also join this competition.

 

Samsung Mobile Company is currently providing direct and indirect employment to around 45,000 people in India. The Samsung Company has manufacturing units at Noida in UP and another at Sriperumpudur in Tamil Nadu. If, its third plant is also opened soon, he number may grow and whichever state gets the Company will get direct employment opportunities. 

 

He is simultaneously negotiating with the China-based mobile company also, which is also keen to set up its first ever mobile manufacturing unit in India. It is a leading mobile phones manufacturer in the world. It has strategic partnership with the customers in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe, etc.

 

This company also can provide direct and indirect employment to at least 10,000 people once it starts its production and marketing activities in the country. Apart from these two mobile giants, Chandrababu Naidu is also trying to woo the Indian Companies that are keen to set up their shop in the AP state.

 

Chandrababu Naidu has talked with the representatives of Chinese Mobile Company and also with the Indian Cellular Association head Pankaj Mahindroo at Hyderabad on Tuesday. He is trying to pursue them to set up their manufacturing plants in the Rayalaseema region, which is earmarked as a backward district and eligible for getting attractive industrial and tax subsidies granted by the central government. Besides, the ‘Make in India’ program launched by the Modi government few months ago will provide additional offers to the companies.
