Is our villages need internet or power supply first?

Generally villagers expect governments provide the basic amenities like roads, drainage, street lights, schools and hospital etc. Farmers expect power supply, fair market price for their products, input subsidy, godowns, soil testing facilities etc. They will be quite happy if the government can ensure timely supply of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides etc. but may certainly not look for internet or broadband services.

However, Modi government believes villages badly need internet and broadband for a speedy development. So, it is planning to expand these services to villages all over the country under its digital India plan. Narendra Modi, who grew to his present position from below poverty line may knew what the people in villages and downtrodden badly need. But, he seems obsessed with technology and is planning to link villages with internet. People would appreciate his government, if it thinks about this proposal after proving basic amenities first. Government should also realize that there is no use of providing internet and broadband without ensuring proper power supply.
