Sushma Swaraj swears in Sanskrit

Pro-tem speaker Kamal Nath initiated the 16th Lok Sabha by swearing in Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a member of the House. The 63-year-old BJP leader Mr Modi took the oath in Hindi. Followed by Mr Lal Krishna Advani. The only people who took the oath in Sanskrit were External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who took oath in Sanskrit along with the Water resources and Ganga Rejuvenation Minister Uma Bharti, who won from Jhansi, and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, , also who opted for Sanskrit as the language . She has a B.A. Degree from S. D. College, Ambala Cantonment with majors in Sanskrit and Political Science along with an LLB.
The Lok Sabha will elect its full-time Speaker tomorrow. Former union minister Sumitra Mahajan, an eighth-term MP from Indore, is slated to occupy this post and will become the second woman to be elevated as the Lok Sabha Speaker after Meira Kumar.
