YSRCP large scale violence in Seemandhra Polls

Around 20 people were injured in clashes between activists of rival parties in some districts of Andhra Pradesh during the Seemandhra polls where Six people were injured in Parachur in Prakasam district. Three police vehicles were damaged in an attack by villagers in Devagudi in Jammalamadugu of Kadapa district. A police officer was also injured in the attack.Clashes between activists of the two parties(YSRCP and TDP) were also reported from Anantapur, Chittoor and Guntur districts. The Media also were attacked in several places in Kadapa and an IAS officer’s car was also not spared.It was more of an upper hand by the YSRCP when it came to raising arms and stone pelting by the YSRCP workers on the police in Guntur district rural areas.

Police had to resort to lathi charge and also fire tear gas in certain areas where the YSRCP workers were becoming violent. Director General of Police Prasada Rao said polling was peaceful barring minor incidents in some places. Over 100,000 police personnel and 272 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed as part of the security arrangements.
