Foundation stone will be laid for IIT today

 

Union Human Resources Minister Smrithi Irani will lay foundation stone for three higher educational institutions in Chittoor district today. She will lay foundation stones for Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Merlapaka village, Indian Institute of Science and Research (IISER) at Panguru and IIIT near Sri City in Chittoor district today. AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, state HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and many political executives and officials of the state government will take part in this foundation stone laying functions of three top educational institutions.

 

AP state government has allotted 563.51 acres of land for IIT and 244.17 acres of land for IISER in Erpedu mandal between Tirupati and Sri Kalahasthi holy cities. Union Minister will lay foundation stone for IIIT at Sri City first and then lay foundation stones for other two institutions at Merlapaka today. Centre will provide funds for these three projects as promised in the AP Re-organization bill. The state government is making alternative arrangement to start the courses of these three institutions from this academic year itself.
