Will KCR win the battle with Centre?

Telangana CM KCR is gearing up for a direct confrontation with Centre over transferring policing powers to Governor in Hyderabad. He took several actions to underline his fighting spirits and to pressurize the Centre to revoke its decision. However, the question is will he will win the war with the Centre or face humiliation at the end?

He is preparing for a legal fight over this issue. But, he too is well aware that he is opposing the AP Reorganization Bill-2014 approved by Parliament and endorsed by President of India. Though, he argues that Centre’s decision is against constitution, it was clearly mentioned in the bill that Governor will have full control of police in the common capital Hyderabad for 10 years. So, the court may reject the petition.

He asked his party MPs to make protests in both houses of Parliament over this issue. If seen their past experience in Polavaram issue in the parliament, it can be easily understand that there is no use of protesting in the parliament.

KCR’s plan to hold a meeting with like-minded Chief Ministers to fight out the Centre may also get poor response, because neither Congress nor BJP Chief Ministers will attend his meeting as their parties have passed bifurcation bill in the parliament that has the clause of according full powers to Governor. Whoever join his fight may not helpful to him anyway because they can’t make Modi bow down before them.

Since, Telangana CM takes this issue as his prestige issue, if he fails to force the Centre revoke its decision through all his efforts, he will face embarrassment at the end. Moreover his fight against Centre may definitely further spoil the bilateral relations between Centre and state, with which the central assistance for the development of the state may be narrowed down.
