SC Refuse to grant stay on Polavaram issue

Supreme Court has given two verdicts today on two different issues that are related to Telangana state and both are against it. The apex court refuses to grant any extension to government for conducting EAMCET admissions. It orders the government to complete the admission process before end of this month and begin classes from first week of September.

The most important point in this verdict is ordering both governments strictly abide by the AP Reorganization Bill-2014. The apex court gave a clear hint that it is going to refer this bill for addressing the disputes between two states in future also.

It clearly reflects in its second verdict on Polavaram issue. The apex court refuse to grant a stay on the GO that allows merger of seven mandals of Telangana with AP that submerge under Polavaram project. The court joined the petitions filed against bifurcation bill and this petition on Polavaram issue. The court serves notices to Centre, AP and Telangana states over this issue and ordered them to submit their explanation within 6 weeks.
