Former UP Chief Minister and Bahujan Samajwadi party chief Mayawati is again lands in legal troubles with Supreme Court’s latest directions to CBI. The court nods for an investigation into her disproportionate assets (DA) case by CBI on yesterday. The bench of justices P.Sathasivam and Dipak Mishra, which rejects CBI petition for the same purpose earlier, gave nod this time. Giving reasons, the bench said “Earlier (6th July 2012) we have rejected the CBI petition filed against Mayawati because the investigating agency has approached us without understand our orders which are limited to Taj Corridor case only. But, it doesn’t mean that the court is taking away the CBI’s power to proceed against Mayawati in another case like the present one. CBI is free to initiate an investigation into her DA case,” said the Supreme Court bench.
In wake of CBI director Ranji Singh’s latest confession about having influenced by the government for being part of it, Bahujan Samajwadi Party led by Maywati, which is supporting UPA government from outside may understand this development is nothing but Congress conspiracy against her. Hence, even if she withdraws her party support to UPA there is no surprise. Ultimately, these developments highlights the inter-links between CBI, UPA and Mayawati.
