Italian Ambassador asked not to leave the country

 

Supreme Court has ordered the Italian Ambassador to India Daniele Mancini not to leave the country without its permission. This order was issued by the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir on Thursday in wake of Italian Government’s response on sending back of its two marines to India.

 

The court also issued notices to two Italian marines Massimiliano Lattore and Salvatore Girone, who were wanted in the killing of two Indian fisher men but allowed to leave the country on a 4 week parole for casting their votes in Italy. As the Italian ambassador, who gave undertaking to Supreme Court ensuring for their return to country on or before March 22nd and to surrender before the court for further trail has failed, Supreme Court has asked him restrain from leaving the country with out its permission.

 

Supreme Court bench is annoyed to hear the Italian government taking turning around on sending the two marines back to country. The court opines it is a clear breach of undertaking given by the Italian Ambassador to the country. The members of the bench AR Dave and Vikramajit Sen have said the Italian government has breached the undertaking given to highest court of the land and the government is extremely concerned about it.
