Irrigation and Corruption

India became Independent 67 years ago and since then if we sum up the expenditure for agriculture sector of all states and central govt. it may amount to lakhs of crores of rupees. If the expenditure is directly given to the farmers with active participation from govt employees or canals and irrigation facilities provided to lands our Agriculture productivity would have added significantly to our GDP. Funds are allocated spent and utilized on pen and paper but still there are 65% lands in India are not getting fruits of irrigation facilities. The failure to provide irrigation facilities is also due to corruption at higher level even at Ministers. Unless discipline and control is not imposed from top level all these slogans are meaningless.
