BCCI president N. Srinivasan has refused to bow down to pressures for his resignation, even as his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, the director Chennai Super King was arrested by Mumbai crime branch police in connection with betting charges on IPL matches.
He said “"I have done no wrong, I have no intention to resign. I can't be bulldozed or railroaded into resigning. Some sources are trying to put pressure now...There is no question of it." He said “Let the law take its own course. BCCI will strictly follow the rules and regulations to keep the game on its track.”
Srinivasan’s Board tenure will come to an end on September this year. Would there be no crisis like the present one, he would have a chance to get extension for one more year. But, in the present circumstances, his chances are remote. Though, he is resisting to step down, he too knows that sooner or later he will be asked to step down. Hence, the names of his successors are gradually started surfacing. Shivlal Yadav of Hyderabad Cricket Association, DV Subba Rao, who worked as Indian team manager and as Chairman of Supreme Court Bar Council are in the list.
