Singer Shaves Head, But Not Getting 10 Lakhs

Bollywood star Sonu Nigam hit the headlines for his controversial religious remarks. On Moday, he tweeted saying, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India.”

Kolkata-based cleric Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi reacted to Sonu Nigam comments and announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anybody who can tonsure the singer and garland him with old shoes.

Nigam accepted the challenge and tweeted, “Today at 2pm, Aalim will come to my place and shave my head. Keep your 10 lakhs ready Maulvi.”

Nigam said in a press conference that he raised a social topic and not a religious one and apologised “if someone thought otherwise”. “I am a secular person. It was not about azaan, it was about the loud sound. Playing loud sound on a speaker is gundagardi for me,” Nigam told reporters.

The singer may shaved his head, but he is not getting the Rs 10 lakh promised to him by West Bengal cleric Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi. The cleric says he will pay the money if and only if Sonu fulfill his other 2 conditions of the singer wearing two-garland of old torn shoes and tour around the country.

Meanwhile, a written complaint was filed today against Sonu Nigam in Marathwada's Aurangabad over this issue.
