Women may enter Sabarimala- Supreme Court

The Supreme Court yesterday has made some interesting comments that could lead to the entry of women into the sanctum sanctorum of Sabarimala. Listening to a bunch of petitions that were opposing the entry of women, the court has raised several questions which are difficult to answer. The court has deduced that Sabarimala temple is a public place of worship and no form of discretion could be allowed at such public place. It has observed that depriving the entry of menstruating women is a form of untouchability. “In a public place of worship, a woman can enter, where a man can go. What applies to a man, applies to a woman,” observed Chief Justice Misra. The court has observed that such imposition is against freedom of religion. Well! Now you might soon hear the court allowing women into Sabarimala.
