4 candidates shortlisted for RBI Gov post:Govt

There were a number of names doing the rounds for the next Reserve Bank of India Governor's position. And according to government sources, there are 4 nameswhich have been finally shortlisted for the position. They are RBI Deputy Governor Urjit Patel; former deputy governors Rakesh Mohan and Subir Gokarn; and State Bank of India Chair Arundhati Bhattacharya. Out of the four, three are economists and veterans of the central bank with the other the head of the country's largest bank. While the current RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan will be joining the search committee to appoint three external members of a new six-member RBI Monetary Policy Committee.
