‘R’ silent in Rayala Telangana

Congress is all set to make one more historical blunder by forcibly dividing Rayalaseema and merging Karnool and Anantapur districts with Telangana to form Rayala Telangana. However, the new state will not carry the word ‘Rayala’ and the two districts will lose their identity as they will be merged with their neighboring districts, so as the bifurcation process will be strictly in accordance with CWC decision. Therefore, though it is Rayala Telangana, the letter ‘R’ will remain silent and the new state will be mentioned as Telangana only.

This last minute proposal is surfaced due to several reasons.

1. It will reduce the strength of its rivals TDP and YCP, while leaving TRS and BJP in a helpless position by extending their territory.

2. While it will sooth its Rayalaseema leaders, at the same time it will strengthen its Reddy community leaders in Telangana region, who fear being dominated by backward leaders, in the present shape of Telangana.

3. The MP and MLA seats will be equally divided and it will improve the electoral chances for Congress in Telangana, while considerably reducing the risk in Seemandhra.

4. Congress needs not to depend on either TRS or YSR Congress parties.

5. Technically it will be in accordance with CWC decision, so no one can blame for violating its own decision.

6. It may oblige BJP to support the bill, because it is submitted in accordance with CWC decision only.

All these things may look quite good on papers, but the ground realities and the outcome will be completely different. Perhaps, Congress may need time to realize this fact.
