Rajya Sabha adjourned over JNU

 

Rajya Sabha was today adjourned on the issue of JNU. Taking up the issue of the latest developments, CPI member Tapan Kumar Sen described the action of the JNU as arrogant and anti-democratic. He was citing the decision of JNU where three students were rusticated. As per the decision of JNU proctor... Umar Khalid, Anirban and Mujeeb Gattoo were rusticated for holding a meeting in favour of Afzal Guru. Kanhaiya Kumar was left with a fine of 10,000/-. Speaking on the issue, Tapan Kumar has described the act as vengeance by the government.

 

Tapan Kumar was supported by other communist members such as Sitaram Yechury and D.Raja. The congress too has of course joined the debate with Ghulam Nabi Azad lending his voice to the students on the issue. The issue of JNU along with the problem of President's rule in Uttarakhand has often disrupted the proceedings of the house.... which was eventually adjourned for the day.
