Suspense continues on T-bill deadline

Publish Date:Jan 22, 2014

Suspense prevails in each and every stage of bifurcation process from day one and it is still continuing, as so far there is no intimation received from President Pranab Mukherjee’s office over extending the time limit for debate on the T-bill. State government, which appeals for extension is expecting a reply from him today.

A section of national media reports that he has agreed for 7 days’ extension, though the Centre recommends for 10 days. If so, state Assembly can continue its debate on the T-bill till February 2nd. If, the T-bill is returned to President before February 5th, it may take 5-7 days for processing before submitting into Parliament. That means the bill is likely to be presented around February 12th, which leaves one week time for a debate on it in the Parliament.
