President Pranab’s role vital in T-Bill approval

If, the GoM could table its final report to Union Cabinet on tomorrow, then after approving the same a draft bill be prepared and will be sent to President Pranab Mukharji for his consideration and forwarding to state Assembly. If, he has any objections or questions on it, then he may ask the Prime Minister to clarify the same. If so, some delay is inevitable at President’s office, otherwise it will be simply forwarded to state Assembly.

President has to give 40 days-time to state Assembly for returning the bill with its comments, if he prefers to follow the constitutional procedures. If so, then approval of T-bill in the present term of UPA is highly impossible as the time may run out by the time the bill returns to Delhi. But, he may even reduce the 40 day-period to a week or 10 days, keeping in view of the time left for approval. Hence, President Pranab’s role is also turns vital in T-bill approval.
