Pension to people jailed during Emergency

The atrocities committed by the government during the 1975 emergency might surprise the present generation. Forcible family planning operations, media censorship, legal abductions are just a few to name them. People who raised the voice for the cause of democracy were jailed without much hesitation. The Maharashtra government has announced a special 10,000/- pension for those who went to jail during Emergency. But as you can expect, this move has initiated some criticism from the opposition congress. They point out that the government though provided pension for the victims of emergency has completely forgotten those who fought for freedom struggle.
