TDP files petition in HRC against government

Senior TDPleader Payyavula Keshav has filed a petition in Human rights Commission today against the state government and AP Transco for showing discrimination between the villages and cities in power cuts. He complains that while people living in rural and urban are paying same tariff for the power consumption, how can the government and AP Tansco impose 12 hours of power cuts on villages, where as it was just 2 hours in the cities. He said because of the irregular power cuts, farmers are loosing their crops and the students preparing for the board exams in villages are unable to continue their studeis. He appealed the HRC to justify the power cuts in villages.

Therefore, HRC has served notices to Principle secretary and CMD of AP Transco in which it asked them to submit their explanation before March 20th in this regard. However, one can assume that, this case taken up by HRC will have no impact on power cuts, as the government clearly stated that it couldn’t make the ends meet at this point. So, it would be yet another case piled up before HRC.
