Pakistan- Gurudwara opened after 73 yrs

Amidst the growing religious intolerance in Pakistan, it’s a good news for the Sikh minority in Peshawar. A 300 year old gurudwara which was closed for almost 73 years, is now reopened for the devotees. But locals feel that this could be just a temporary phase. They fear that the militants could storm the gurudwara and tear it down at any moment. They haven’t forgotten the recent murder of Sardar Suran Singh, an assembly member of Khyber province. Such incidents have grown alarmingly in recent history of Pakistan.

Militants have been targeting worshiping places and minority members quite often. And Peshawar has been a busy hub for such acts. The reopening of Gurudwara under such circumstances is thought to be a bold decision by the local Sikh community. The government on it's part has arranged for a security guard to be posted before the Gurudwara. And the local Sikhs believe that the security along with the grace of god would save the Gurudwara from a militant attack.
